A researcher position in Drosophila genetics and cell biology is available in the Tumor-Host Biology group of Dr. Rusten at the Institute for Cancer Research at the Division for Cancer Medicine from October 12, 2026 and for one year.
The organization and research focus
The Cancer Molecular Medicine group is located at the Radium Hospital, which is part of Oslo University Hospital, the largest academic hospital in Scandinavia. The group is part of a Norwegian Centre of Excellence (Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming, "CanCell"), which consists of six research groups focused on the discovery of cancer programs and the interactions of cancer cells with the cellular environment.
One of the group's aims is to understand the interaction between tumor and host cells and organs in the microenvironment or systemically. Specifically, this position will focus on finalizing work on metabolic cooperation between host and tumor.

Position description
The candidate will study the cell biology underlying tumor-host metabolic and signaling cooperation in vivo primarily using advanced Drosophila genetics and associated cell biological and molecular techniques.

Kvalifikasjoner:
- Experience and total independence with Drosophila genetics from planning to execution is essential.
- Experience with molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
- Experience with tissue microdissection and immune stainings.
- Confocal imaging including quantitative and statistical methods is essencial.
- Experience with flow cytometry.
- Experience with preparing tissues for RNASeq analyses.
- The successful candidate is an excellent team player.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
- Preparing scientific articles, i.e. preparing figures and writing of scientific reports.

- Proficiency in bioinformatics, such as coding and/or computational data analysis
- Proficiency in statistical methods and the use of tools such as R and graphpad
