Post-doc position on the regulation of cellular fate and differentiation by SUMO

We announce a full-time postdoctoral position (36 months, starting March 2020) in the group of Dr. Pierre Chymkowitch, Department of Microbiology, Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. The Dept. of Microbiology is a well-equipped internationally competitive research environment. Furthermore, our group has an extensive collaboration network nationally and internationally. Finally, our research is interdisciplinary and has significant funding through the Research Council of Norway, Helse Sør.

Project summary
Obesity is a serious global health problem that increases the risk for type 2 diabetes and other related diseases like cancer. Unfortunately, current treatments often result in metabolism damage without inducing weight loss. There is thus a clear need for antiobese drugs that improve metabolism and induce weight loss. We have data suggesting that the small ubiquitin-like modifier Sumo is deeply involved in the regulation of adipose tissue function and identity. This research project thus seeks to address the role of Sumo-mediated gene control during adipocyte differentiation at the chromatin level, with a primary focus on human and mouse adipose stem cells.
