With more than 100 years of maritime heritage and over 50 years of expertise in liquefied gas handling, we develop and operate floating terminals that provide safe, reliable, and efficient energy infrastructure around the world.
The company has an international presence in 13 countries: Bermuda, Norway, Singapore, Germany, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, the USA, Indonesia, Egypt, Colombia, Brazil, France and the Philippines.
Höegh Evi is looking for a Commercial Operations Intern – Spring 2027
You’ve read about shipping. Now discover a niche that helps power countries.
Perhaps you’ve come across the acronym FSRU while exploring the maritime industry. Short for Floating Storage and Regasification Unit, it’s a specialised segment with a worldwide fleet of just 50+ vessels. At Höegh Evi, we own and operate 10 of them across 4 continents.
We are looking for a motivated individual from BI Norwegian Business School to join us in 2027 and discover the business behind these vessels.
The BI Internship is an unpaid, credit-bearing internship in accordance with BI’s Internship Bachelor programme.
This is your chance to see how a charter contract plays out on a vessel in operation, and what it takes to keep customers, crews and colleagues on four continents aligned.
What you’ll do:
Working alongside experienced commercial operators, you will:
- Follow our vessels day to day. Keep track of how our FSRUs are performing against their respective contracts, from LNG cargo deliveries and gas send-out to maintenance and operational matters. You will learn how a FSRU operates in practice.
- Turn vessel data into insight. Review reports from the vessels and help prepare performance reports and fleet updates read across the organization.
- Be part of the conversation between ship, customer and shore. Assist in coordinating between vessels, customers and colleagues, and see how operational issues get solved in real time.
- Get hands-on with charter contracts. Work closely with our time charter parties: help review contract terms, interpret what they mean in practice, and track reporting requirements and commitments. You'll learn how contract wording translates into day-to-day commercial decisions, a skill that's valuable across the shipping and energy industry.
- Get involved in our projects. Support the team delivering new FSRU projects around the world.
Who we're looking for
Someone who identifes with Höegh Evi's values:
- We innovate with customers and partners
- We deliver excellence as one team
- We care for people and planet
You are studying shipping management, business, finance, law or a related field at BI, and you're keen to build a career in the maritime industry. You follow what's happening in the industry, and you want to understand how the commercial side of the business really works, from contracts and customer relationships to day-to-day operations.
You are comfortable with numbers and reports and you notice the details others miss. You don't need prior experience in the industry, just the drive to learn it properly and the confidence to ask questions along the way.
What you’ll gain
You'll get a close-up view of the commercial side of an international energy shipping company, working on real tasks with guidance from a dedicated supervisor. You'll be part of the team from day one, and you'll see how what you're learning at BI applies to real commercial opportunities.
A potential summer internship position would be a separate, paid employment arrangement.
Practical details
The internship takes place at our Skøyen offices in Oslo from January 4 to April 20, 2027, part-time for two days per week over 15 weeks (240 hours).
All required work equipment will be provided, along with a modern canteen, gym, and membership to the Höegh Evi Young Club which organizes social events regularly.
Höegh Evi is committed to equal opportunities and a diverse, inclusive workplace. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, nationality, or background, and guarantee full confidentiality throughout the recruitment process.
Candidates are expected to openly provide all relevant information about themselves during the recruitment process. As part of our security requirements, candidates will be asked about affiliation to high-risk countries for assessment purposes. Background checks are conducted on all final candidates, and all hires—permanent or temporary—are screened against applicable sanctions lists to ensure compliance with sanctions law.
