Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer reporting to the Team Manager for the Mechanical Design Team in Kongsberg Discovery – Uncrewed Platforms.

In this role, you will be a part of the Uncrewed Platforms R&D Team innovating new and exciting products and maintaining the existing Product Portfolio.

We are now developing the next generation of autonomous underwater vehicles for both civilian and military applications. The work will include working with all the AUV on board systems including pressure vessels, electronics containers, battery technology, antennas, motors, syntactic foam applications, subsea and topside infrastructure with handling systems including hydraulics.

 

We are looking for a candidate who have good time management skills, able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Key accountabilities

· Develop innovative and robust solutions for the standard product range and delivery projects.

· Maintain existing products during their lifecycle

· Technical responsibility in assigned projects

· Provide engineering services for sales and support

 

Qualifications and experience

· Master of Science or experienced Bachelor in Engineering

· Experience in CAD tools like Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks

· Experience with strength calculations i.e., Nastran – Finite Element Analysis

· Experience with basic Computational Fluid Analysis (CFD), heat and flow are an advantage

· Good oral and written English and Norwegian communication skills
