Senior Consultant position combined with Professor I/ Associate Professor

The vacant position is a Senior Consultant (50 % position) at the Department of Cardiology, Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases, Oslo University Hospital. The senior consultant position is combined with a 50 % position as professor of Medicine (Cardiology), or associate professorship (depending on academic qualifications), at The Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

The Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Medicine is composed of several departments. These include Institute for Experimental Medical Research, Institute for Surgical Research, Department of Vascular Diseases, Department of Cardiology, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Department of Logistics and Outpatient Services. The departments are located at three different locations of Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet, Aker Hospital and Ullevål Hospital). All three locations have extensive research facilities. Teaching of medical students takes place at all three hospital locations. The departments conduct research in several major fields within cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine, and include several internationally leading research groups

Regarding the part-time position at University of Oslo

The academic position is a Professor (SKO 1013) or Associate Professor (SKO 1011) (50 % position). The basis for evaluation of the applicants by the assessment committee will include her/his scientific, other professional, educational and publishing qualifications, qualifications related to management and administration, and personal qualifications. As part of the ranking process of qualified applicants, the full scope of these qualifications will be explicitly assessed. Particular weight will be given to qualifications that are central to the announcement and the description of the position. Scientific qualifications will carry more weight than other qualifications.

According to the regulations at the Faculty of Medicine, the person appointed will lead and initiate research, supervise researchers, participate in teaching students and research fellows and undertake duties in connection with examinations, as well as undertaking administrative tasks as required by the prevailing regulations. Personlige egenskaper:

  • The successful applicant is expected to have extensive research experience in cardiology.
  • She/he should lead or be able to establish a research group, to direct research activities in novel and innovative ways, and to initiate and conduct research projects in collaboration with other divisions/departments in the hospital.
  • The applicant must have experience in teaching to medical students, and formal teaching qualifications are desirable.
  • The successful applicant should have interpersonal skills, the ability to create an attractive and dynamic research environment, and ambitions relative to teaching accomplishments. As a main rule, interviews will be held and references collected.
