POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an intermediate accountant who has at least 2-3 years of experience and is looking for the next step in their career. The Senior Accountant role reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial accounts, performing month-end close procedures, and facilitating day-to-day accounting operations.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform month-end financial reporting procedures, including detailed analysis for revenue recognition, account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and preparing invoices.
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations.
  • Preparation and review of HST / GST / PST / QST returns and other compliance filings.
  • Responsible for AR and Collections cycle, setting up new customer accounts.
  • Develop sales reports & variance analysis, prepare forecasts for the revenue cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting requirements are met
  • R &D work order costing and  reports.
  • Maintain capital asset schedules.
  • Assist with financial and tax audits.
  • Other adhoc responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience as an Intermediate Accountant.
  • Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations and/or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.).
  • Professional certification – CPA designation considered a strong asset.
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Visual Manufacturing and Microsoft Dynamics AX or 365 experience.
  • Experience with Power Bi is considered an asset.
