World-wide turnkey cable supplier seeks Raw Materials Category Manager

Nexans’ submarine power cables are key in the transition to more renewable energy whether connecting islands to the mainland or bringing green energy from the offshore wind farm to the grid. In cooperation with our world-wide customers we push technological boundaries to go deeper, longer, at higher voltages and to provide turn-key solutions for installation and protection to meet future needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing the purchasing savings budget for your own category for all SLS plants to reach the Business Group / Group objectives
  • Define the purchasing strategy for the portfolio in charge and share it with his/her main stakeholders to secure a full alignment
  • Define the right negotiating lever to work on competitiveness program and secure the best costing
  • Lead and participate to some Design to cost / Re-design to cost exercise to work on cost optimization
  • Negotiate frame contracts, pricelists and spot purchases of raw materials within a specific raw material portfolio
  • Implement contracts and agreements for raw materials within the portfolio for SLS plants
  • Update ERP master data related to materials management, pricing and delivery terms
  • Lead the supplier evaluation, approval process and supplier development for suppliers within the portfolio
  • Secure that all purchases of raw materials are done according to the Materials Specifications (MS) procedure, and that the last version of all relevant MS’s is distributed to the relevant suppliers
  • Do market surveillance and keep track of market development and suppliers for the material groups within the portfolio
  • Secure a good cross functional cooperation with internal customers, such as sales and marketing and technical departments
  • Lead status meetings at plant level and act as a purchasing mentor for the local Supply Chain Procurement team
  • Inform sales and marketing about price development and abrupt market changes
  • Introduce cost effective and new solutions based on supplier input and other open innovation sources to technical departments
  • Handle major claims towards raw material suppliers together with Supply Chain at the affected plant and when applicable together with Group Purchasing
  • Ensure compliance with the Group Code of Ethics and particularly implementation of the Group rules and policies related to the relations with agents and consultants, competition law and the annual actions of the Ethics Compliance Program
  • Contribute to the identification and reduction of risks related to purchases
  • Lead negotiations to select the best supplier

Your qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor degree within relevant fields
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience
  • Good negotiation & communication skills
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
    • Preferably basic skills in Norwegian, both written and oral.
  • Competitive and positive mindset
  • Very good Excel analysis skills
  • Federate, and focus his/her team
  • Results oriented
  • SAP & Ariba skills
