An exciting opportunity has arisen as Project Engineer, reporting to the Team Manager - Lifecycle Projects, Americas.
The Lifecycle Projects department is a part of the Global Customer Support division, for Automation & Control. Kongsberg Maritime GCS delivers customer support activities to ship owners based and/or operating worldwide. Lifecycle Projects main area of expertise lies within the delivery of Automation & Control product range - Dynamic Positioning, Navigation, Integrated Control and Automation.
The Project Engineer is responsible for: system/discipline engineering and design, ensure all technical requirements described for the project including KM HSE, QA&QC requirements are met, and that the discipline engineering deliverables are delivered with the required quality to the agreed time.
Main Responsibilities:
Familiarize and Understand scope of work (SOW)both for own discipline but also overall project scope. Give input to overall project plan.
- Plan document delivery (SMDL) according to overall project plan.
- Monitor document production and act as required to avoid documents being delivered late.
- Assess scope for "long lead items" as early as possible
- Plan and initiate Hardware requirements together with supply chain. Follow up on plan.
- Plan shipment activities together with project manager
- Plan and initiate test and verification activities (IAT/FAT) for discipline / project
- Give input to projects manning plan (both in-house and Installation/ Commissioning)
- Give input to Project risk register
Authority:
Engineer and design the solution of Kongsberg products applicable for the project workscope, in collaboration with the customer and internal stakeholders.
- Be the point of contact with the Customer on all technical matters relating to the disciplines engineering deliverable.
- Prepare or have prepared Technical Queries when technical clarification is required from Customer or others.
- Prepare technical justification for Variation Order Request when a change in scope is requested or enforced, an escalate to Project Manager
- Co-ordinate with other project disciplines, KM site personnel (installation, commissioning etc), Customer and others to ensure that all interface information is shared and properly implemented.
- Create production, installation, Class and user documentation for the SOW.
Competence:
- Engineer (BSc/MSc) or relevant technical education/experience
- Fluent written and spoken English and native language.
- Experience and knowledge of Kongsberg Maritime’s products.
- Knowledge about most subjects within a discipline.
- Good knowledge regarding various classification requirements.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with field service, with excellent performance.
