Researcher
Offentlig forvaltning
A researcher position (postdoctoral level) is available in the Autophagy group of Prof. Anne Simonsen at the Institute for Cancer Research, Division of Cancer Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The project will be supervised by Viola Nähse, Senior Scientist at Oslo University Hospital and Associate Professor at the Institute for Medical Biology, UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
The position is funded by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (HSØ) and is available from August 15, 2025, for three years (initially two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension). Start date is negotiable.
The Autophagy group is based at the Radium Hospital, part of Oslo University Hospital, the largest academic hospital in Scandinavia. The group is affiliated with two Norwegian Research Centres:
- Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming (CanCell) – a multidisciplinary center of excellence with six research groups focused on cancer cell identity and plasticity (https://www.med.uio.no/cancell/english/).
- Autophagy Research Centre Targeting Cancer (ARCTiC) – established in 2024 to advance understanding of autophagy in cancer (https://arctic-autophagy.no/about-arctic/).
A major research goal is to uncover the molecular mechanisms of phagophore formation at omegasomes, a subdomain of the endoplasmic reticulum. We recently identified a mechanism for phagophore constriction at omegasomes, relevant for selective autophagy (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-39641-9).
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial for solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions, and we encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply!
Kvalifikasjoner:
We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled, and independent researcher with the following qualifications:

- Strong experience in molecular and/or cell biology techniques, including cloning, CRISPR/Cas9, cell culture, western blot and flow cytometry
- Hands-on experience with autophagy assays
- Proficiency in fixed and live cell fluorescence microscopy and image analysis
- Proven track record of scientific productivity (e.g., publications in international journals)
- Experience with figure preparation and manuscript writing
- A high level of research integrity, motivation, and willingness to learn new methods
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
Vi tilbyr:
- A dynamic and innovative research project within a collaborative and supportive team
- A stimulating environment with access to state-of-the-art imaging facilities
