Evaluation criteria / eligibility and suitability

We are looking for passionate individuals in their final year of graduate studies (PhD) or working as postdoctoral researchers within two years of receiving their PhD degree (Note: Final year graduates must have submitted and defended their PhD thesis prior to the preliminary start date). There are no age restrictions, but we seek candidates with experience/competency within data science, computational biology or AI machine learning.

Postdoctoral researchers need to be able to make a reasonable amount of scientific progress on their idea(s) within the time-frame of a 2-year postdoctoral position. We plan on a 2 years postdoc initially with an additional 1 year merit-based extension.

Note: Successful applicants will require valid work visas for Schengen (EU EEA).

The candidate is expected to work well together with other scientists in a team. We will welcome a highly motivated and dedicated candidate capable of working independently and with good communication skills. Proficiency in the English language is a requirement.

    Position: Lung Cancer Postdoctoral Fellowship, Oslo University Hospital.


    Successful candidates will be awarded a fully funded postdoctoral position, joining a vibrant scientific community within academia and pharma. If selected, you will have access to expertise, data, imaging and patient samples, novel tools and technologies, and the mentoring support needed to turn ideas into reality. You will also be exposed to a world of learning opportunities, an outstanding opportunity to expand your professional network, and broaden your professional experience, conducting parts of the postdoctorate at leading university hospitals and research institutes, as well as at Nordic and International AstraZeneca locations. You will also have access to related networks associated with the hospital/institution. In Norway, the Oslo Cancer Cluster (including almost 100 members) serves as an ecosystem partner for the Post Docs, including relevant national and international meeting networks, meeting places and innovation support. 

    Both academic supervisors and AstraZeneca mentors will be assigned to each postdoctoral fellow, offering you the freedom and autonomy to contribute your unique skills, plus the support to rapidly learn new approaches to follow the science, innovate and make a tangible impact. You will regularly present at internal workshops both at the hospitals as well as to AstraZeneca, in addition to being present at external conferences and seminars and in the future, contributing to publications in leading journals. The Lung Cancer and Breast Cancer Postdoctoral Fellow will be hired by the Oslo University Hospital and Karolinska Institute, respectively, but will be working closely with both researchers and experts from both institutions and AstraZeneca. The postdoctoral fellows will also be encouraged to connect, collaborate and share with one-another.
