PostDoc position in epidemiology at The Norwegian Cancer Registry

Offentlig forvaltning

The position is for 3 years and the candidate will be affiliated to the Section of Epidemiology and Prevention in the Research Department.

New and expensive treatment management has given hope of improved survival for patients with advanced melanoma.

In this 3-year project, we will compare the usefulness of these new drugs with the current standard treatment for these patients. Survival, the use of other medications against pain and anxiety, as well as length of hospitalisations and direct costs will be studied.

Norway provides exceptional conditions for registry-based studies, and the data basis for this study was established by linking various high quality health registries such as The Cancer Registry of Norway, the Norwegian Patient Registry, the Norwegian Prescription Registry and others. This project requires a person with high methodological competence and experience with analysis of large data sets. Research experience within epidemiology or oncology would be useful. This project is financed by the Norwegian Cancer Society.

The Cancer Registry is part of Oslo University Hospital, and a workplace with great diversity. We encourage you to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • The successful candidate must hold a PhD, ideally in statistics or epidemiology. Oncology or another relevant field may be considered when convincing knowledge and experience within statistical methods can be documented.
