Oslo University Hospital is a highly specialized hospital in charge of extensive regional and local hospital assignments.

The hospital has a nationwide responsibility for a number of national and multi-regional assignments, and has several national centers of competence. Oslo University Hospital is responsible for approximately 50 percent of all medical and health care research conducted at Norwegian hospitals, and is a significant role player within the education of a large variety of health care personnel

Applications are invited for a three-year full-time position in a Research Fellowship as PhD Candidate in the CRISPR gene therapy group led by Emma Haapaniemi to be based at NCMM, University of Oslo & Oslo University Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a highly integrated and motivated team with diverse skills and expertise across molecular biology and immunology.
The work tasks will be tailored based on candidate’s interests and concentrate on optimizing and scaling up protocols for efficient mutation correction in human T cells and hematopoietic stem cells.
Examples of work tasks include: optimize T cell and stem cell ex vivo editing & culturing conditions; transplant edited cells to humanized mice; design and optimize high-throughput biology experiments in robotics platforms; set up custom Next Generation Sequencing libraries and technologies; scale up protocols to pre-GMP and GMP scale.
The research fellow will take part in an approved PhD program at the University of Oslo and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • The candidate must have a Master’s degree or equivalent in life sciences
  • Highly motivated and structured candidate with experience in multiple academic or private research environments
  • Proven expertise in immunology, primary cell culture or Next Generation Sequencing library design.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
