PhD Fellowship in Semantic Information and Communication Methods for Wireless Sensors with Control
Offentlig forvaltning
Technology and Innovation Clinic (TIK), The Intervention Centre (see: http://www.ivs.no), Section for Medical Information and Communication Technology at Oslo University Hospital offers a full-time PhD Fellowship. The recruited PhD Fellow will be part of theWireless Sensor Network Research Group of Professor Ilangko Balasingham and will be enrolled in the PhD program at the University of Oslo.
About the Position
The fellowship is part of the research project “Semantic-Aware Wireless Body Sensor-Actuator Networks (SCOPE),” funded by the Research Council of Norway with 12 MNOK award.
This project is conducted by a supervisory team from the Intervention centre (IVS), Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet), and collaborating research groups in the Denmark and the UK.
The SCOPE project explores semantic communication for next-generation wireless sensor-actuator networks, focusing on transmitting and acting on the most meaningful information rather than raw data. The research will develop a semantic feature-based control framework to improve efficiency, reliability, and real-time responsiveness in wireless body sensor-actuator networks (used in digital healthcare applications).
About the PhD project
The PhD project explores the development and implementation of a semantic wireless body sensor–actuator network exploiting deep learning networks. This would include:
- Developing a semantic-aware framework for dynamic allocation of energy, bandwidth, and computational resources in wireless body sensor–actuator networks.
- Designing and investigating a semantic control mechanism for closed-loop wireless body sensor–actuator networks.
- Designing and evaluating architectural and signal-processing strategies to enable communication between sensors, server, and actuators within a semantic communication framework.
