Associate professor/professor in Computer Networking, Information and Communications Technology systems 

The Norwegian Defence University College has a permanent full-time position as associate professor/professor in Computer Networking/Information and Communications Technology for military operational command. As an employee at our university college, you will contribute to the Armed Forces being equipped with critically important competence to utilize current and future ICT solutions in peace, crisis and war. 

The Norwegian Defence Cyber Academy (NDCA) is a subdivision of The Norwegian Defence University College situated in Lillehammer. NDCA is particularly responsible for education of military engineers for the operation, development and defence of the Armed Forces' digital infrastructure. The school educates tomorrow's leaders. A combination of leadership training and professional training creates good officers and specialists with high competence. NDCA educates engineers in computer and communication systems combined with military leadership training. NDCA conducts research on military ICT systems, cyber security and cyber power. Research and development within the field improves the ability to exploit the cyber domain in peace, crisis and war. The candidate offered this position will be expected to plan and develop research activities and projects and to engage in science communication. The candidate is expected to engage in teaching and supervision of the NDCA students/cadets.

The Norwegian Defence University College is an accredited university college that offers, among other things, bachelor's and master's programs in military studies and is responsible for higher education in the Armed Forces. The core areas of the university college are education, research, development, and dissemination. It is organized in following entities: the Specialist Staff, Operational Staff, Institute for Defence Studies, Norwegian Command and Staff College, Norwegian Military Academy, Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy, Royal Norwegian Naval Academy, Norwegian Defence Cyber Academy, Norwegian Defence Language and Intelligence Academy, and Norwegian NCO School. There are approximately 1400 students at the Norwegian Defence University College, and about 130 carefully selected and motivated cadets are associated with the Cyber Engineering School.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • Relevant PhD or senior lecturer competence in ICT subjects
  • Research experience
  • Good verbal and written language skills in English, preferably also Norwegian
  • The successful applicant must be able to obtain security clearance for SECRET / NATO SECRET before commencing the job

Desireable Qualifications

  • Experience from technologically oriented research or development related to communications technology for the military use
  • Teaching experience and work experience from the Norwegian Armed Forces
  • Basic pedagogical competence for academic staff at universities and colleges (Basic Competence in University Pedagogy)

  • The position is remunerated according to the State's salary regulations as an associate professor (position code1011) within the range of 74-82, currently NOK 745 000-821,100 per year before tax, or professor (position code1013) within the range of 80-86, currently NOK 870 900-1 025 200 per year before tax, depending on qualifications. For particularly qualified candidates, a higher salary may be considered. A 2% statutory pension contribution to the State Pension Fund will be deducted from the salary
