Our Americas division is responsible for Kongsberg Maritimes services, upgrades, and support in the aftermarket. Our 2,300 employees are present in 35 different countries around the world. During the operational lifetime of more than 30,000 installations, we ensure cost-efficient delivery of services, upgrades, and spare parts to secure availability and predictability to our customers.
We are looking for a collaborative and determined Technical Advisor - Merchant
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical maritime advisory based on regional and local customer focus (Ex. Brazil FPSO markets / Pacific Northwest fishing markets / US West Coast / Offshore Wind Markets).
- Focus on customer solutions (e.g., technical, not sales).
- Provide solutions directly related to installation market (i.e., EEXI, OL, Drilling, etc.).
- Promote / Innovate Company solutions to customer special projects.
- Support and develop the team’s competence.
- Work at customer site for defined amount of time or duration of assigned projects.
- Consider higher volume/fleet/SLA customers.
- Serve as local contact / mediator between customer and project management in the region as needed.
- Serve as technical point-of-contact for assigned customers.
- Ensure customers are aware of Company solutions.
- Work closely with aftermarket sales.
- Serve as part of the regional “Technical Advisor Team” for Automation & Control - Americas.
- Serve as technical escalation point for the discipline within the region.
- Provide in-office technical support to our customers through mail / phone support.
- Proactively follow up on requests, cases and incidents to ensure continuous progress and feedback to customers.
- Provide remote support.
- Assist engineers, coordinators and aftermarket with technical and operational issues.
- Facilitate internal and external service network with exchange of knowledge.
- Ensure effective links with other departments in our organization.
- Participate in 24/7 duty phone / triage.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, Computer Engineering or related field of study.
- 36 months of experience in advanced automation skills, with major projects including commissioning of Maritime Automation & Control equipment, refits where old systems were removed and new systems installed for Automation & Control products.
- Special Requirements: At least 6 hrs./wk. of overtime. Work Schedule includes being on call during weekends, holidays and/or 24/7. Willing to travel short notice and also willing to stay Offshore as well as travel on helicopters and crew boats.
- · Travel Requirement: Up to 30% domestic and international.
Work Location: St. Rose, LA – Hybrid work schedule (2-3 days/wk.); telecommuting permitted.
