Software Engineer R&D (on-site)

To meet an exciting, sustainable, and expanding future, we are seeking a Software Engineer R&D to join our EchoSounder Team, developing our world leading portfolio of applications for the Ocean Science, Fishery and Mapping sectors. Most of the world’s stock estimation is performed using our scientific echo sounders. With us, you will contribute to sustainable harvesting of the ocean’s resources through development of new and exciting products.

What you will be working on

You will be joining a dedicated group of software engineers continuously working to improve our echo sounder products. Your team will be located both on-site in Horten, in Bergen, Spain, the UK and possibly other locations. In this team, your role will focus on interfacing our proprietary hydroacoustic sensors, working closely with the hardware and firmware developers to make sure our systems meet our customers’ demands for performance and reliability.

You will work in an agile environment, performing regular software development tasks, in addition to implementing and testing interfaces to new sensors. You will participate in testing and integration in the lab, our acoustic test tank, on board our test vessel and with customers on board research and fishing vessels. You will work closely with our product managers and collaborate with software teams around the world, developing and testing reusable software modules for cutting edge applications.

Desired qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor or higher in Computer Science or similar. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
  • Experience or interest in multi-threaded programming and/or communication protocols
  • Experience in software testing and verification
  • Experience working with C#/C++ 
  • Communicate clearly in both Norwegian and English
