Senior Reservoir Engineer

DNO is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East-North Africa region and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. With a leading position in terms of reserves and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, DNO produces around 108,000 barrels of oil per day from the flagship Tawke and Peshkabir fields. The Zagros mountains in Kurdistan are home to some of the largest undeveloped hydrocarbon reservoirs in the world where the reservoir rocks consist mostly of fractured carbonates. Health, safety, environment and security are core values at DNO and are taken very seriously.

Tawke field is currently undergoing IOR through gas injection and different IOR schemes  are being investigated for the Peshkabir field. Therefore we are seeking to appoint a senior reservoir engineer for these exciting developments. The main role responsibility will be  related to field development planning and reservoir modelling of DNO’s main production and development assets. The senior reservoir engineer will be a key member of the Tawke and Peshkabir Field Development team and interact closely with the DNO Kurdistan organisation based in Dubai and Erbil. The position will be based in DNO’s corporate headquarter in Oslo.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Field development planning, monitoring and dynamic modelling
  • Production forecasting & scenario modelling
  • Perform volumetric and reserves assessment
  • Operational support/advice if needed
  • Manage Company’s reservoir-related databases
  • Reporting and presentation

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Ideally MSc Petroleum Engineering or, as minimum BS degree in Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent).

  • 10+ years of experience in the E&P Industry. Extensive experience with an operator
  • Specialist within the discipline of analysis and reservoir modelling of fractured carbonates
  • Thorough knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals and experience of reservoir engineering aspects of different reservoir systems
  • Gas Injection and/or IOR experience
  • Good understanding of static and dynamic reservoir characterization and 3D modelling techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of related subsurface disciplines and petroleum economics

  • Strong workstation skills, expertise with modelling, simulation & uncertain quantification software (preferably Petrel/Eclipse/tNav/ResX), and other reservoir engineering software applications (Petroleum Experts IPM suite, Kappa), ability to learn new software
  • Flexible, adaptable, problem solving, resourceful
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, communication and reporting skills (fluency in verbal and written English language), including recognition of local cultural requirements
  • Good organizational skills to plan and execute multiple studies/projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in team and across functional groups
  • Ability to perform under high pressure
  • Initiative, proactiveness and desire to learn and expand within role
  • Moderate business travel required
