Senior Drilling Engineer

DNO ASA is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. 

DNO Norge AS is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer to join the Drilling and Wells Team in Stavanger. The incumbent will provide drilling & well engineering, operational and technical support to ensure that activities related to DNO's portfolio of operated and non-operated activities are executed safely and efficiently and in accordance with requirements and statutory regulations throughout the entire well life-cycle.

 

Tasks:

  • Apply the Management System throughout the duration of the drilling & well operations and ensure that relevant statutory regulations and guidelines are adhered to
  • Research offset well data and supplier’s information for the selection of the most suitable tools, methods and procedures
  • Participate during the daily operational morning call to be able to monitor the operations and report on operational and technical performance
  • Compile and verify updated activity programme and review any proposed changes during operations
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during operation including work offshore as required from time to time
  • Assist in rig intake activities, incl. preparation of scope of work
  • Participate in see-to- duty and follow up drilling & well activities in non-operated licences
  • Systematic monitoring of the operations resulting in effective preparation of drilling sections of the End of Well report
  • Establish and actively monitor a project action / risk log. Follow-up outstanding action
  • Preparation of detailed activity programmes to assist personnel offshore during operation
  • Participates in risk analysis, DWOP, TWOP, CWOP, peer reviews and workshops as needed.
  • Participate in see-to-duty and follow up activities in licences where the company is a licence partner
  • Participate in development and reviews of the Drilling & Wells procedures in the Management System
  • Provide general well engineering advice, data room support and time-cost estimates to the Asset Teams and G&G as required
  • Participates in licence committees as needed
  • Participate in relevant industry forums such as NOROG Well Integrity Forum and Plug and Abandonment Forum and associated workgroups
  • Member of DNO Norge Operations on-call duty team; and
  • Assure feedback regarding any operational lessons learned that could influence the design of and activities in future wells.

Communication, cooperation and development

  • Keep abreast of new developments in drilling & well engineering technology;
  • Follow up R&D projects within drilling & well area as required;
  • Maintain professional knowledge base, particularly best practice;
  • Actively cooperate with well management contractor to ensure quality planning and execution of DNO operated drilling & well activities;
  • Actively cooperate within the team, across DNO teams and with external contractors and service providers, as appropriate to ensure free exchange of information, knowledge and resources in pro-active manner; and
  • Act as an advisor for the less experienced staff and for management.

HSEQ compliance

  • Comply with appropriate HSEQ policies, industry norms & standards, regulations and guidance notes in a professional manner
  • Update the HSEQ drilling documentation as required
  • Apply the relevant HSEQ Management System to the targeted area of activity
  • Member of DNO Well Control Response team during Well Operations; and
  • Participate in incident investigations as needed.

 

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years drilling and well activity experience
  • A broad knowledge of drilling and well related technical areas
  • Experience with jack-up, semi-submersible and fixed platform operations
  • Experience with well intervention operations
  • Knowledge of Norwegian Rules and Regulations with relevant standards; including internal control and risk analysis (RVK training preferred)
  • IWCF Rotary Well Control Certification (preferred)
  • Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training
  • Offshore Health Certificate
