Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norway’s largest hospital with over 24000 employees. The Hospital has a local function for parts of Oslo's population and a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. It also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 26000 students and 8000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The faculty works for progressive education, research, and dissemination for the patients’ and society’s best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 2000 employees and about 5ooo students.
A permanent position as Senior Consultant (neurosurgery) is available at the Department of Neurosurgery, Division of Clinical Neuroscience, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II /Associate Professor (20 % position) in Medicine (neurosurgery) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, UiO. It is required that the position holder attends to both positions. If the main position is left, the part-time position must also be vacated. If one is granted leave from the main position, the question of whether the part-time position can be held will be evaluated by the Head of Institute.
Kvalifikasjoner:
Qualification requirements – education and relevant personal qualities:
- Applicant must be a board-certified neurosurgeon, clinically active and have a wide experience in clinical and/or basic neurosurgical research.
- Applicants must have clinical, and research experience related to one of the aforementioned sections.
- Norwegian health authorities demand a board certification issued in Norway in order to work as a neurosurgeon in Norway. Applicants without a Norwegian board certification must present in detail how they will get a Norwegian board certification in due time.
- Documented good skills in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish
- Certificate of good conduct
- Personal suitability and good collaborative skills will be emphasized

Personlige egenskaper:
The successful applicant will have a plan for development of her/his research, and for acquiring externally funded research projects. High quality of research, and publishing in peer-reviewed international journals is expected. The applicant is asked to describe his/her research profile, with respect to strategic plans and existing research at the Institute/Department.
Within 6 months after appointment the successful candidate must provide a 3-year plan for future research in line with the Institute’s/Department’s strategic priorities. The plan is to be presented for the Head of Department.
In the final review and recommendation, emphasis will be laid on skills related to the job description, the evaluation done by the assessment committee, evaluation of personal suitability for the position based on interviews and references obtained, pedagogical qualifications and ability to disseminate scientific knowledge, plans for further research and ambitions for his/her teaching.
