Senior Consultant combined with position as Professor II or Associate professor

The vacant position is a Senior Consultant (100 % position) at the Department of Acute Medicine, Division of Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The senior consultant position is combined with a 20 % position as professor of Medicine (Acute Internal Medicine), or associate professorship (depending on academic qualifications), at The Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

The Division of Medicine is composed of several departments which are located at three different locations of Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet, Aker Hospital and Ullevål Hospital). All three locations have extensive research facilities. Teaching of medical students takes place at all three hospital locations. The departments conduct research in several major fields within acute internal medicine, and include several leading research groups. Here is the department’s homepage:

Tasks

• The working tasks will be allocated according to applicant qualifications and department needs

• The applicant must participate in the ordinary clinical work at the department

• Contribute to maintain and develop a highly qualified research environment

• The applicant is expected to contribute to training of clinical fellows, to run courses and to participate in quality improvement routines.

• The applicant is expected to participate in the on-call duty of the department.

 

Qualification requirements

• The applicant must hold an MD and must possess a Norwegian specialist accreditation in Internal medicine or Emergency medicine, preferably the former.

• The applicant should have broad clinical experience within the fields of intensive care and acute medicine.

Personal qualifications and skills

• Personal skills will be emphasized.

• Personal qualifications of the applicant, including documented collaborative skills, will be important.

• Patient management involves empathic communication skills at a high level towards patients and their families.

• Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required.

• An educational portfolio, providing a total and systematic presentation of the applicant`s educational and teaching qualifications

• Description and documentation of qualifications regarding dissemination, administration, management and foreign language skills

• Description and documentation of qualifications regarding research planning and research management

• Overview of experience in supervising PhD candidates, including names of the candidates, period of supervision, information on institutions and dates for the presentation of the theses, as well as specific information regarding experience as main- or co-supervisor for each candidate:
