Researcher/Postdoctoral Fellow position in protein design
Offentlig forvaltning
PRIMA is a new Center of Excellence in Precision Immunotherapy at the University of Oslo Institute of Clinical Medicine funded by the Research Council of Norway with Oslo University Hospital as partner. We are now recruiting a candidate to join a team-based alliance and contribute to the next generation immunotherapy strategies. The current position is a 3-year researcher or postdoctoral fellow position in the Andersen Laboratory at the Oslo University Hospital Department of Immunology Rikshospitalet. The position is available from October 1st 2023.
Research in PRIMA
Immunotherapy has dramatically improved outcomes for cancer patients. A single injection of gene-modified immune cells equipped with a therapeutic receptor that targets cancer cells can cure several cancer types originating from blood cells. Similar results have been obtained with protein-based biologics such as antibodies. However there are only a few types of cancers where this treatment is effective. In PRIMA we want to develop new immunotherapy for patient groups for which there is no effective treatment.
About the Laboratory
Professor and research group leader Jan Terje Andersen heads the Laboratory of Adaptive Immunity and Homeostasis which uses multi-disciplinary approaches to address fundamental questions in health. One particular focus is studies of the cellular processes and molecular interplay underlying the functions of the two most abundant proteins in blood albumin and antibodies. Such knowledge offers opportunities for development of novel concepts for tailored design of antibody and albumin based biomedical technologies with altered pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.
The laboratory has an eye on translational research is highly innovative and is collaborating extensively with biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The head of the laboratory has obtained the Fridtjof Nansen Prize for Early Career Achievements Oslo University Hospital Early Career Award and is an alumni of The Young Academy of Norway.
The Andersen lab (www.ous-research.no/andersen/) is located in Oslo/Norway and currently consists of 15 people and is part of a research environment with facilities that are modern and functional.
