Researcher in demography

The research group for Population and Public Economics has an open position for a demographer. Analysing and monitoring demographic dynamics and providing regional and national population projections, are among the main tasks of the research group. Family demography, fertility, mortality and migration are the main research topics in this field. In addition, the research group works on topics related to government transfers and the organization of public services. Providing decision makers, interest groups and the public with a better understanding of the Norwegian society, is of overriding importance for the Research Department. The position will be linked to population projections and demographic research. This includes international research projects and collaborations with external partners. It is also expected that the researcher will contribute to other research topics, develop new research projects and apply for external funding in cooperation with other researchers. Expertise in quantitative methods and experience in analysis of population or census data are required.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • A completed Ph.D. in demography or a related discipline (the Ph.D. must be submitted at the date of employment).
  • Documented high skills in statistics and quantitative methods.
  • Experience with large administrative datasets, population or census data and statistical software such as R, SAS or Stata.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills with a strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong written and spoken Norwegian (or other Scandinavian language) are highly desirable. Non-Norwegian speaking candidates are expected to learn Norwegian.

Vi tilbyr:

  • The position will be placed as SKO 1109 (position code) with salary NOK 580 000 - 715 000 per annum, depending on qualifications. Higher salary can be considered for applicants who are particularly well qualified.
