Research technician

A permanent position as research technician (spesialingeniør) is available at the Department of Medical Genetics, Oslo University Hospital.
Department of Medical Genetics at OUH is Norway's largest department of medical genetics with more than 200 employees. The department is responsible for the diagnosis of rare hereditary diseases, and operates a national research infrastructure for high-throughput DNA sequencing at the Norwegian Consortium for Sequencing and Personal Medicine (www.norseq.org).
The research section in the department has seven research groups (www.ous-research.no/meg/), working in various fields of medical genetics, including breast cancer, genetics in autoimmune, neurological, cardiovascular and psychiatric disorders, epigenetic causes of disease, and groups focusing on bioinformatics. The research section is run in collaboration with the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.
Most of the work in the specialist engineering position will be associated with the research group "Genetics of rare congenital brain diseases". The group analyzes data from next-generation DNA sequencing from patients with serious neurological diseases to identify the cause of the disease, and to further characterize the biological consequence of new mutations by in vitro and in vivo experiments.
The position requires broad experience with molecular biological methods and analysis of sequence data, experience with cell culture work and other practical laboratory work.

- Master's degree is a demand
- PhD (University) or equivalent is an advantage
- Broad experience with molecular biological methods and practical laboratory work is necessary
- Broad experience with the use of bioinformatics tools is an advantage
- Experience with cell culture and cell biological methods is an advantage
