R&D Testing engineers - varied and exciting positions (2x)

We are seeking 2 x R&D engineers with knowledge of testing. One position will be responsible for testing of coatings for Marine and Protective products, the other for our Decorative segment. This is a rare opportunity to both dive in to the practical side of laboratory work, project management, statistics and the physical end result. 

Your workplace will be at our brand-new headquarters’ state of the art R&D center, in Sandefjord, Norway. You will be part of an exciting workplace, where more than 200 great employees are attached to R&D-related tasks. 

As our new R&D Testing engineers your main tasks will be to plan and run testing projects, help us improve, and get even better in the future. 

Duties and responsibilities

Marine and protective coatings: Responsibility for planning and running test program towards key account customer specifications and ensure that Jotun are prequalified.

The testing are both done internally and at 3rd party Test Laboratories and will provide technical documentation supporting the Technical Sales Support and Sales organization.
Establish new test methods and routines for testing and documentation of Jotun products for Marine and Protective.
Follow-up and be an active participant in Working Groups for International Standards to promote the Jotun views when it comes to new standards for testing of coating systems
Ensure that all technical documentation is well organized and available for the correct persons in the Jotun organization trough IT tools.
Support the innovation process with testing and prequalification insights.
The position will be responsible for test areas and test equipment in our own Test laboratory.

 

Decorative coatingsDevelop and improve our R&D test methods and procedures, in order to increase quality and accuracy in our test results, and thereby our product performances. 

Lead and coach colleagues as well as contributing professionally within own area, to increase the quality of test methods and evaluation of test results by using statistical tools.
Perform assigned test programs by planning, preparing, testing and evaluating Jotun and competitor products. The findings and conclusions shall contribute as a basis for innovation projects or product changes.
Perform measurements and practical laboratory work, and report the results from testing. Search for and make use of relevant knowledge.
Maintain and develop our outdoor exposure test site in Sandefjord and contribute in developing our regional exposure test sites globally.

Qualifications

We think you would be most likely to succeed if you have a background quite similar to this:

Bachelor or Master degree in the field of Chemistry,  Mechanical or Process engineering (or possibly you have a background from Physics, Mathematics, or Chemometrics).

Some years of relevant work experience, preferably from testing.

Additional competence in statistics and reporting is required.

We use English as our work language.
