Postdoctoral fellowship in neurodegenerative genomics

Offentlig forvaltning

Department of Neurology, Oslo University Hospital, is the largest neurological department in Norway, with three wards, clinical neurophysiology services and activity at two different hospital locations -  Ullevål and Rikshospitalet. The department is responsible for patients of all neurological diagnoses, with special clinical and scientific focus on cerebrovascular disease, movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, headache and other pain disorders, cognition and neurogenetics.

We are currently accepting applications for a 100 % position as postdoctoral research fellow. The position is funded by a grant from the South-Eastern Regional Health Authorities, Norway, (Helse Sør-Øst) for a project titled "Understanding neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s disease using single-cell multiomics". The project will apply advanced genomic techniques, including single-cell/nucleus RNA sequencing and investigations of DNA methylation in Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. The aim is to improve our understanding of the immune related molecular disease mechanisms in neurodegenerative disease and help underpin the development of novel therapies and precision medicine.

The postdoctoral fellow will work within the research group for Huntington's disease and neurodegenerative genomics, headed by project leader Lasse Pihlstrøm (https://www.ous-research.no/pihlstrom). The project will also involve extensive collaborations with excellent national and international partners, in particular partners from the Netherlands Brain Bank and VUmc Amsterdam.
