Postdoctor
Offentlig forvaltning
Position Overview:
We have available a 100 % position as Postdoctor on a molecular cell biology project in the Molecular Biology of Sarcomas group supported by a research grant from Helse Sør-Øst. The position is for 2.5 years with possibility for extension.
The position is available at the Institute of Cancer Research. The institute hosts core facilities for multiparameter flow cytometery, next generation sequencing, imaging and bioinformatics. The Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) of Oslo University Hospital (OUH) Radiumhospitalet, is one of the largest Cancer Centers in Europe.
The "Molecular Biology of Sarcomas” group is led by Professor Jørgen Wesche. The group has for many years investigated mechanisms involved in the development and progression of sarcomas, with focus on cell biology and genomics. Sarcomas are rare, accounting for 1% of all new malignancies, but 10-15% in children and adolescent patients. Although rare cancers together make up one of the largest patient groups with the by far most lost life-years, therapeutic research is difficult and neglected by the industry due to low commercial potential. Thus, with some exceptions, the treatments have not significantly improved the last decades, and new strategies are required to improve outcome for these patients.
The group is member of a Norwegian Centre of Excellence, Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming (CanCell). The group makes extensive use of advanced molecular biology methods, proteomics and light microscopy. Home page: https://www.ous-research.no/wesche
