Understanding the prostate tumor microenvironment with single cells and spatial transcriptomics analyses

About Us:
Join the project group led by Dr. Urbanucci at the Oslo University Hospital, Institute for Cancer Research. The Project Group (www.ous-research.no/urbanucci) operates within the Eivind Hovig research group at the Department of Tumor Biology. Here Dr Urbanucci holds a part time position while he also is affiliated with the Prostate Cancer Research Centre at Tampere University, Finland. Dr Urbanucci´s team focuses on unraveling the complexities of the prostate tumor microenvironment.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to ongoing projects involving single-cell and spatial transcriptomics. The successful candidate will work on optimizing protocols for sequencing from cells and clinical tissue. Additionally, they will be involved in cell and molecular biology work, emphasizing the preclinical development of small molecule inhibitors.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • PhD in Molecular/Medical Biotechnology or related field, obtained working in cancer research (experience with prostate cancer research is an advantage).
  • Strong laboratory skills in genomics, with a focus on molecular biology, functional genomics, and/or cell biology.
  • Understanding of immunology, DNA repair and radiobiology, biochemistry, genomics experiments, and statistics.
  • Prior experience in generating experimental omics datasets.
  • Prior experience in managing/leading complex projects with multiple collaborators.
  • Ability to work with mice is desirable but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Work with tissue (nuclei and single cell work is an advantage) and chromatin-immunoprecipitation, IHC, or immunofluorescence microscopy.
  • Cell/tissue culture (experience with patient-derived material is advantageous).
  • RNAi experiments (must have) and drug screening (desirable).
  • Nucleic acid and protein extraction from tissue and cells.
  • Western blotting and qPCR.
  • Flow Cytometry (desirable).
  • Proficiency in excel, word, endnote, prism, adobe illustrator.
  • Critical experimental design, Sequencing Library preparation, Knowledge of R and basic computational data analysis .
