Postdoc research fellowship in cancer research

Offentlig forvaltning

Three-year full time Postdoc Research Fellowship in cancer research is available at the Department of Pathology, Oslo University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.

The position is available from August 2024. The position will be located in the laboratory of Professor Jahnsen at Oslo University Hospital – Rikshospitalet (website: www.jahnsenlab.org.) The aim of the project is to understand the role of the tumor environment in colorectal cancer and liver metastasis, identify novel biomarkers and targets for therapy.

The Jahnsen team has a very strong record in research of the human gut and has over the last few years built very strong competence in bioinformatics for single cell multiomics analysis. In this project we will collaborate with internationally and nationally leading research groups within cancer biology and cancer genetics, bioinformatics and imaging, oncology, and gastrointestinal surgery. We will apply an integrated approach combining advanced imaging techniques and high throughput single-cell technologies including high density spatial transcriptomics. We have access to a unique well characterized clinical biopsy material from several thousand colorectal patients and in ongoing collaborate projects with surgeons at our hospital we receive surgical material (tumor and normal tissue) from a high number of colorectal cancer patients every year. We also perform functional in vitro studies and culture complex organoids to study tumor-immune cell interactions in a near in vivo situation.

Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is essential to perform the tasks required of us. Therefore, we pursue diversity among our job applicants and encourage everyone to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.
