Postdoc position in Biostatistics

Offentlig forvaltning

A 20% Postdoctoral position (11-month duration) available in biostatistics/data science in the project:
‘RNA expression and genetic variants in the causal estimation of endometrial cancer risk – A Mendelian Randomization study’

Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological cancer in developed countries, and the incidence and mortality rates are increasing, also among younger women, mainly due to the increasing prevalence of obesity. In this study we aim to increase our understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying the development of the disease.

We will:

  • Identify the gene variants associated with RNA levels in existing data from 320 endometrial cancer patients and 320 cancer free controls
  • Explore the causality of circulating RNAs in endometrial cancer by performing Mendelian randomization analyses

In this project, we will build upon a well established research project on RNA as cancer biomarkers using pre-diagnostic samples form the Janus Serum Bank at the Cancer Registry of Norway. RNA and genotyping data from the endometrial cancer patients and controls is available. This project requires a person with high methodological competence and strong analytical skills to handle large data sets. The project is financed by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.
