POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW

Offentlig forvaltning

At the Research Institute for Internal Medicine (RIIM), Oslo University Hospital (OUH), Rikshospitalet, there is a position available as a 3-year post-doctoral research fellow in bioinformatics/biostatistics funded by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. Start-up is by agreement.

The research area for the position is use of omics technologies to identify biomarkers and treatment targets in acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
The project will be conducted in the group of Professor Thor Ueland in close collaboration with the Dept. of Cardiology at OUH Rikshospitalet and Ullevål.
The project focuses on use of large national and international biobanks from ACS patients with data on outcomes, combining discovery platforms using omics technology with high-throughput validation analysis of proteins in large patient cohorts, to identify novel candidate proteins with potential for risk prediction as well as targets for therapy and prevention. This could enable an individualized approach to treatment and prevention of ACS.

IMF consists of ~60 people and 6 main research groups with background in various fields of medicine, molecular biology and biochemistry and an aim to combine clinical medicine and molecular biology to establish a bridge between bench and bedside. The research profile for IMF within the Section of Inflammatory Research (currently 4 research groups) includes all phases of this research, ranging from characterization of inflammatory profiles in various patient populations and in vitro experiments in various cells and cell lines to experimental studies in animal models, including gene modified mice, and interventional proof of concept studies in various patient populations, (https://www.ous-research.no/riim/).
