3-year post-doc position in multi-omics analyses of musculoskeletal disorders in ReMeDy

This project is affiliated to the REMEDY Center (https://en.remedy-senter.no/). The centre is established with Diakonhjemmet Hospital as host institution together with Oslo University Hospital, the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Rheumatism Association and MAGIC as affiliated partners. The purpose of REMEDY is to develop excellent treatments and treatment strategies in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases through a broad approach to the research field. Our ambition is to conduct clinical studies with the potential to change clinical practice. The post-doc will be employed at Oslo University Hospital – which has more than 24 000 employees and a leading role in the development of research and innovation, as well as the development of tomorrow's healthcare, precision medicine and treatment.

We are currently accepting applications for a 100% position as postdoctoral research fellow. The position is part of the REMEDY research center funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The project title is “Molecular characterization of pain – a multi-omics study of musculoskeletal disorders and pain”. The project will apply advanced and novel bioinformatic methods to genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic factors in pain and disease etiology of musculoskeletal disorders.  The aim is to improve our understanding of the molecular disease mechanisms and explore how molecular profiling can reveal mechanisms of pain and disease development, and predict treatment response and prognosis.

The postdoctoral fellow will work in the Neurogenetic research group, headed by project leader Kaja Selmer (https://www.ous-research.no/selmer/). The project will also involve extensive collaborations with excellent national and international partners, first of all within the REMEDY network, but also with other collaborators, including University of Oxford, UK.

The research group is part of the Neuroscience Research Unit at Oslo University Hospital, where a number of research groups focused around molecular neuroscience share modern laboratory and office facilities in the Domus Medica 4 building, close to the hospital location at Rikshospitalet, Oslo. The project work is in theory not strictly tied to any specific location and could partly be conducted elsewhere, for example visiting project partners at collaborating institutions. REMEDY has established a young researcher programme, including the possibility to fund research stays with partnering institutions abroad.
Start date is to a certain degree flexibly, but must be before 15.12.23.

If you are interested and would like to know more about the project, contact the PIs of the project: Kaja Selmer (k.k.selmerATmedisin.uio.no), or Kristina Gervin (kristina.gervinATfarmasi.uio.no).
