Post doc position in bioinformatics in breast cancer research – comparative oncology

Department of Cancer Genetics, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital, has an open position as a postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics for three years, in Therese Sørlie’s group. The position is funded through a grant from the Norwegian Research Council on the project “Multiple breast malignancies in dogs; improved understanding of disease progression by human-canine comparison.” The project is carried out in close collaboration with the research group for medical genetics at The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The Institute for Cancer Research (ICR) conducts cutting-edge cancer research ranging from basic cancer biology to translational and clinical research. It is the leading cancer research institute in Norway, and has a strong international standing. Department of Cancer Genetics is one of 6 research departments at the ICR. Our expertise covers a broad range of disciplines and we perform integrated molecular and clinical studies to reduce risk, diagnose early, improve prognosis, and tailor treatment with relevance for many cancer types.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, molecular biology, or eqvivalent
  • Experience working with genomics data
  • Experience with R and/or other programming languages
  • Extensive knowledge of cancer biology
  • Excellent capabilities in both the spoken and written English language
  • Ability to work independently as well as closely in teams
  • Flexible
  • Motivated for a career in science
  • Excellent communication skills
