Position as Senior Consultant at the Department of Emergency Medicine combined with Professor II/Associate Professor

Position as Senior Consultant at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Akershus University Hospital, combined with Professor II/Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

Relating to the main position:
The 20% position as professor is combined with a full time (100%) position as a senior consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This is Norway’s largest emergency department with around 47,000 patient contacts per year and a substantial potential for conducting clinical research. The department also includes 30 observational beds for patients with an expected stay of less than 24 hours. The department has eight consultant positions. We cooperates closely with several academic groups within the hospital, and simulation training and education of doctors and other health care personnel is a central part of our activities.

The successful applicant must hold an MD and be a specialist or a resident specializing within acute internal medicine or another medical field relevant to acute internal medicine. The applicant must have recent experience from working with critically ill patients, preferably in an emergency department. The successful applicant must take part in all clinical activities in the department, and fill the role as on-duty physician. Participation in rounds and weekend duty is to be expected.

Applicants must be fluent in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.

Ability to create an attractive and stimulating academic environment and to attract PhD students and postdocs is essential. It is expected that the successful candidate
will develop a strong research network within the hospital, as well as nationally and internationally, and to be able to obtain research funding from external sources.
