Working in the Nordic Origination department in Finland

Trading & Origination

At Statkraft, our trading teams engage in standardised and customised contracts for power, gas and green certificates. Our Origination teams help supply customers with a broad range of tailor-made solutions and services for utilities and industrial purposes. 

The Nordic Origination department has more than 30 employees located in Oslo, Trondheim, Stockholm and in the newly established office in Espoo, just outside Helsinki, Finland.  The team is responsible for a customer portfolio of more than 60 TWh in yearly sales and structured trading activities.

Its business activities and customer solutions are crucial for Statkraft given that most of the company’s energy exposure is linked to the Nordic markets. Moreover, Statkraft’s new strategy implies a considerable growth of the customer business and Nordic Origination is expected to contribute by increased sales and new business ideas. 

To strengthen the newly established Statkraft office in Espoo, we need an Originator, who can help us to develop new concepts and services in an exciting market. Our office is located near the Iso Omena subway station. You can find more information from our home page: www.statkraft.fi

As an originator in the Nordic Origination team you will be responsible for origination, B2B sales and developing tailor-made green PPA solutions for our industry partners.

Your role:

• To build and maintain strong and long-term relations with customers and business partners
• The main focus will be on Finnish industrial customers, however you will also contribute and support across borders and segments
• Create value by initiating and driving sales activities and processes for various product owners in Statkraft
• Identify, develop and implement new products and structured solutions in the Nordic market
• Close collaboration with other team members and across our organization to maximize value creation and streamline operations
• Secure clear and respectful communication across internal and external stakeholders

Your profile:

• University degree on master’s level, preferably in economics, engineering, business, law or similar
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience within the field of sales and origination, preferably in energy markets.
• Experience from negotiation of PPAs and other trading frameworks is an advantage
• Very good negotiation skills and strong commercial mindset
• High motivation level, self-going and a structured, yet creative, approach
• Team player with excellent communication skills in Finnish and English. Managing business in Swedish language is also an advantage.
• Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships internally and externally
