Job Summary:

The Operations Drilling Engineer (Tawke 5G)  is responsible for well engineering and operations support for one or more rigs working in DNO Tawke field. Tawke 5G Project is DNO 5^th Generation well design for the field focussing on use of highly mobile rigs drilling highly deviated/horizontal well with a simple slim hole well design from surface to top reservoir. This is an equal time rotation position based in Erbil working with the Drilling Superintendent 5G and responsibilities are focussed on the efficient delivery of the 5G wells. 

Key Responsibilities:

HSSE

• Promotes compliance with DNO Policies and standards.
• Participates in HSSE and nonconformance event investigations and reporting as required.
• Conducts safety audits when on field visits

Planning and Operations

• Provides input into drilling program preparation working closely with the Planning Drilling Engineer
• Prepares well operations procedures e.g. Casing running and cementing and follows the execution of programs technically
• Checks drilling fluids formulations comply with programs and contracts
• Optimizes drilling hydraulics by modelling and correlation with field data
• Works closely with cementing contractors to design and test cement slurries
• Work with directional contractor to optimize drilling assembly design
• Liaises with rig team and service companies to coordinate equipment and personnel call-out
• Manage OCTG such that shoe tracks, cross-overs and pup joints are available when required
• Prepare service call-outs in accordance with finance procedures
• Ensures proper communication with relevant parties – service providers, stakeholders etc
• Participates in cost control of programs Vs AFE by analyzing solutions.
• Prepares timely End-of-Well reports
• Participates in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment
• Reviews new technology for possible application to project

Performance and Cost Monitoring

• QA/QC of data in Daily Drilling Report
• Prepares daily Time/Depth progress
• Prepares daily Cost/Depth progress Vs AFE
• Records and monitor operational NPT trends and maintains drilling performance database
• Ensures lessons learned are captured and recorded in DNO system, and shared with Dubai office and the other rigs.
• Evaluates results Vs goals and performance of service companies
• Initiates engineering corrective action to ensure a process of continuous improvement
• Performs engineering studies to solve recurring problems (wellbore stability, lost circulation, washouts, etc).

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• The Operations Drilling Engineer must have a Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject, preferably Petroleum Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Drilling Engineering with proven experience in well operations including time spent at the rigsite
• Minimum 3 years must be in land rig operations, preferably in MENA
• Competent user of Peleton Wellview reporting system and Landmark drilling engineering software.
