Offshore Planner - Platform Drilling

We are looking for Offshore Planner for the platform drilling side of our business.  The successful candidates will work on the UKCS on a 3/3 rotation.

 

The Offshore Planner works in co-operation with Odfjell Drilling Senior Toolpusher, the Drilling Supervisor and by actively making sure that all work is planned with safety in focus. The Offshore Planner  needs to cultivate a strong and collaborative relationship with the onshore team particularly the onshore planner and rig site personnel, including client representative. They will also need to develop skills to effectively interact with technical specialists, service company representatives, logistics, and the wider wells team. Required to develop skills to effectively interact and communicate any findings on areas for improvement and progress solutions to closure. The ultimate objective of this position is to complete successful offshore oil and/or gas wells to the satisfaction of the Client, Company management and within compliance of applicable regulations.

 

The key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities detailed below:

 

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply the highest level of leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, practices and policies to deliver safe and reliable operations.

 

  • Manage assigned operations safely and efficiently, in full compliance with relevant standards, policies and legislation.

 

  • Participate in rig based behavioral safety activities and the Odfjell Drilling self-verification process.

 

  • Promote Odfjell Drilling’s expectations and requirements to the rig crews for procedural discipline through self-verification audits.

 

  • Additional time should be spent on AAR of well control drills to ensure the learnings are implemented in procedures.

 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives at the rig site.

 

  • Coordinate equipment, work site and work permit readiness to minimise impact on the operational critical path.  This will require close liaison with third party service providers in daily consultation with the operational lookahead.

 

  • Develop and maintain a performance culture offshore and engage all personnel in the performance improvement agenda. This is critical to delivering effective performance improvement.

 

  • Develop capabilities to monitor, evaluate and communicate clear performance expectations.

 

  • Ensure visibility of delivery versus the plan at the rig site and onshore using relevant KPIs including reporting of Pronova data to the agreed distribution list as operations dictate.

 

  • Provide input to the lookahead, ensure timings are tracked accurately against the DDR, including ILT and NPT, and that the forward plan and targets are accurate and achievable. Daily review and input to the plan required with the DSV.

 

  • Focal point on the rig for all continuous improvement initiatives. Hold sessions to address flat spot times. Ensure lessons from previous operations are implemented, improvement suggestions captured and a new target time for the operation agreed and tracked against. Lessons should be captured in a lessons learned register and discussed with the DSV for incorporation into future work instructions where applicable.

 

  • Understand and utilise the continuous improvement process as described in the Odfjell Company Management System (L1-CORP-QU-PR-022 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT)

 

  • Be the primary interface between Odfjell, Equinor and the service providers in pre-planning operational activities, with the aim of improving efficiency through improved communication between all involved parties.

 

  • Record, track and ensure closure of lessons learned, improvement opportunities and lead the use of performance tracking software i.e. Pronova

 

  • Organise pre and post-job After Action Review meetings (AAR).

 

  • Own the AAR process, identifying equipment, procedural or safety improvements and lead the performance and planning discussions at meetings.

 

  • Analyse performance data, recommend improvements and support their implementation.

 

  • Demonstrate and implement simplification and efficiency in all areas of the rig.

 

  • Review Written Work Instructions ahead of issue ensuring appropriate information detailed and compliant with relevant standards, policies and legislation. Review should include a check that all previous lessons learned have been incorporated. Ensure copies distributed to offshore wells team prior to performing any operations on the well.

 

  • Support simplification and efficiency agendas and avoid creating additional unnecessary procedures or data analysis.

 

  • Captured and communicate actions arising from planning meetings to appropriate personnel and coordinate with relevant personnel ensuring proper forward planning of the upcoming operations.

 

  • Work with onshore team to share appropriate lessons to all the rigs in the Region. Establish call schedule to discuss.

 

  • Known or anticipated operational deviations from the agreed plans are identified and the reasons for the deviations found. Make sure reasons for deviations are documented in the Lookahead and relevant lessons learned are transferred to the Lessons learnt tracker.

 

  • Ensure Drillers / Toolpushers are tracking and recording actual times for each operation for identification of ILT and that all pertinent comments as to why and how the target times were reached / not reached are logged.

 

 

 

The successful candidate must have the following:

 

  • Must have good leadership and collaborative qualities to cooperate with offshore/onshore supervisors and client representatives.
  • Demonstrable experience in all aspects of project delivery including, forward planning and management of all third parties.
  • Must have a strong IT skill set in order to produce and present Drilling Performance Statistics using  RigManager, proNova, Excel or similar.
  • 5 years’ experience in a technical supervisory role within drilling industry.
  • Have previous experience as a Performance/Planning Toolpusher / Drilling Eng.
  • Engineering degree (But not essential) or recognised technical qualification with relevant experience within O&G drilling area.
