We seek a Network Architect to strengthen our capabilities in this important area.

Our current portfolio consists of alarm systems, access control systems, video systems, data streaming, video analyses, big data analytics and other sensors for e.g. the health sector. More technology capabilities are on the threshold to be added. We are already a full blown IoT company that operates, gathers, and analyses data from a vast amount of IoT devices, and Securitas have a huge footprint in the security market with a strong and reliable brand.

Within the Products & Services (P&S) department in Securitas Norway we are now looking for architects to help us orchestrate the architectures and roadmaps needed for both standard products & services as well as for dedicated setups for larger customers and their individual needs. It is important that concepts and architectures take into consideration all the lifecycle management phases from “birth to death”. Every phase is important for our customers and their perception of Securitas as their reliable and intelligent security partner.

In a world where more and more seamless customer journeys consist of services delivered from many vendors, we also believe that our security services must be a part of a bigger whole. From the building industry we can see that meeting bookings in Outlook triggers adjustment of light, heating, and air ventilation in the meeting room chosen. In the same way security solutions must be able to adjust access controls, alarms and other sensors based on inputs from other systems and solutions. Integration of our “security eco-systems” with other eco-systems will be increasingly important in the years to come as “smart buildings”, “smart neighborhoods” and “smart cities” emerge gradually.

As a Network Architect in Securitas, you will be working at various levels depending on what it is prioritized at any time:

• At the highest level, you will help to define and decide on the right Network/System/Integration/Security strategy and approach that will best support long-term business plans and goals
• At the medium level, you will advise on the best tools, frameworks, hardware, software, and other IT elements to achieve mid-term departmental and functional objectives
• At the lowest level, you will consult with and advise BID- and project teams on the specific software, hardware, integration, security, and other elements needed to deliver defined BID- and project outcomes

In the role as an architect, you will be working closely with other members in the P&S department like the team members in the Architecture & Design Team, Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, and other experts. Concepts for chosen segments or individual customer needs are a result of continuous interactions and alignments within the department and other departments. The P&S department must also cooperate tightly with vital stakeholders like the Securitas (Security) Operation Center - SOC, Sales, Retail, Operations, and Projects & Installations. This is a challenging position as the IoT and security market consists of a wide range of devices, communication protocols, systems, platforms, and vendors.

For the right candidate, the position can also include leadership of the “Architecture & Design Team” where the position will be Head of Architecture & Design.

The position reports to Director Products & Services, Sten Richard Grovassbakk, and we are situated in Bøkkerveien 5 at Hasle.

Architecture & Design Team:

You will be part of a team of architects that are responsible for the innovation, applicability, and success of our technology stack. The initial team will consist of three senior architects (system, security, and network) and one Technical Business Developer, and we aim to establish a team with skills that complements each other.

Team Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for defining and documenting architectures (both for segments and for tailor made solutions for larger customers) and secure a professional handover to operations and maintenance
• Maintain architecture documentation to support full life cycle management from “birth to death” and to support changes and further development of both concepts and specific customer solutions
• Assessment of platforms and architectures from existing and new suppliers (participation in meetings with existing and new suppliers to assess architectural possibilities and constraints)
• Work closely with Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, BID teams with more
• Be up to date on possible threats related to attacks on devices/sensors, networks, and servers together with security architects
• Be responsible for identifying and highlighting areas in the architectures that needs extra attention (e.g., integration constraints in communication based on proprietary protocols where communication can break after a firmware/software update on either the device or the backend
• Establish routines and procedures for professional life cycle management
• Suggest contract clauses to clarify separation of duties between Securitas, customers, and suppliers
• Support Product Managers in their development of concepts for their segments
• Support Technical Product Managers assessments on technical setups for products and product portfolios
• Support BID teams in their development of BIDs and concepts for larger customers and individual needs
• Be up to date on various communication protocols used between devices and servers
• Be a main driver in various meetings regarding architecture
• Be a main driver for adherence to standards where feasible (e.g., communication protocols, platforms, software etc.)
• Define and be the owner of the roadmap for underlying needs that supports many segments and technologies (e.g., private APN infrastructure for secure communication between devices and the backend - including cost overview for these infrastructures)
• Own and run our technology lab servers, software and setups and run our “private cloud” for testing purposes
• Contribute to innovation processes in the department and influence choice of products, product ranges, services, and critical success factors for Securitas
• Be the “architect champions” in the P&S department that approves all new products and services from an architect perspective before it enters production

Required qualifications:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree or higher within technology
• Extensive competence may compensate for formal education
• Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in a similar position (network architect, system architect, integration architect, IT architect, security architect, system designer, system developer with more)
• Long experience with various networks, fiber cables in networks, different server environments with more
• Knowledge of cisco routers and switches
• Experience from the security industry is a plus but not required
• Satisfactory police certificate of conduct
