Oslo University Hospital is accredited as Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) by the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). The accreditation is based on the large and complete clinical activity of high quality, in close cooperation with a large clinical and laboratory based research activity with several internationally leading research groups. A separate cancer board has been established to ensure the quality and coordination of the treatment and research services for cancer patients, across the hospital's clinics and in collaboration with the Cancer Registry, University of Oslo and research institutes.

One positions (50%) as Medical advisor are available for two years (with possibility for extension) at Division of Cancer Medicine, Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. These doctors shall be involved in the national clinical study, IMPRESS-Norway. 

Regarding the positions at OUH:
Division of Cancer Medicine has for several decades played a central role within the field of cancer research both in Norway as well as internationally. Division of Cancer Medicine includes Dept for Cancer therapy, Dept of Gynecological Oncology and Dept of Haematology, in addition to two institutes involved in diagnostics and research.

Project information
IMPRESS-Norway is a large precision cancer medicine trial that was initiated spring 2021. The trial is sponsored by Oslo University Hospital and have activities at 23 sites at seventeen hospitals in Norway. The National PI of IMPRESS-Norway is Professor Åslaug Helland, MD, PhD. The Norwegian Minister of Health has in the Commission documents for 2019 and 2020 explicitly asked for initiatives that can accelerate the implementation of PCM both for research and standard patient care in the Norwegian Health Care system (https://www.regjeringen.no/no/tema/helse-og-omsorg/sykehus/styringsdokumenter1/oppdragsdokument/id535564/

The Regional Health Authorities have secured funding of infrastructure for precision diagnostics (InPreD) to implement use of gene-panels and other molecular biomarkers in pathology laboratories and funded IMPRESS-Norway through the KLINBEFORSK program and also asked the HTA-authorities to explore new and adaptive models to facilitate introduction of PCM in standard cancer care in the Norwegian Health Care system. 

Kvalifikasjoner:

The candidates should be a MD and have PhD in molecular biology or genetics or experience in such research. In addition, the candidates need clinical experience in their field. Candidates with clinical experience in treating cancer patients will be prioritized.

Proficiency in the English and Norwegian language is a prerequisite.
The candidate is expected to work together with other scientists in a team. We will welcome a highly motivated and dedicated candidate, with the ability to work independently, but with good communication skills and who performs well in a team.
