Job Summary:
DNO is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East region and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. With a leading position in terms of reserves and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, DNO produces around 110,000 barrels of oil per day from the flagship Tawke field.
Overall Duty:
- Hands on support, on the job (OTJ) training and coordination of the Tawke Field, Fishkhabour, Peshkabir instrument maintenance technicians and trainees in all maintenance activities in accordance with Company’s policies and objectives.
- Delivery of companies planned, predictive and corrective works scope to ensure equipment availability and integrity is maintained with a track record of on time PPM delivery for the facilities instrumentation control and fire and gas systems.
- Plan activities and obtain necessary PTW, review work assigned and arrange for the necessary transport, material, tools and equipment to complete the task.
- Development and update of maintenance procedures and plans to ensure efficiency and safe delivery of all maintenance scopes.
- Competent in the use of computer maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Experienced with control of work requirements on Oil and Gas facilities.
- Competent in the use of analysis techniques and instrumentation interrogation equipment to enable instrumentation condition analysis and functionality proof. Calibration and test equipment operation.
- A track record of successful delivery of OTJ training and competency programs for national staff.
- Min 20 Years’ experience in Oil and Gas facility maintenance in a hands-on capacity with a minimum of 5 years on Gas installations.
- Experienced in the maintenance, troubleshooting and operational optimisation of DCS, PLC, field and can bus systems.
- Ensure all statutory requirements and site SCE compliance achieved. SIS/ SIL function testing, Compex
- Strong background in Instrumentation calibration, installation and repair including PLC systems associated with reciprocating and rotating equipment Maintenance, installation, commissioning, trouble shooting and operational optimisation. Engine driven Gas compressors, and Gas power generation units (Engines and Turbines) and various pumping systems would be advantageous.
Health, Safety and Environment:
- Ensures that the Production, Maintenance and Logistics activities are conducted in compliance with the applicable HSE procedures, including the Work Permit procedure.
- Acts as the permanent Company representative and is fully responsible for all decisions affecting the Health, Safety and Security of all personnel on site. He has authority to stop operations, construction, or any other activity that may jeopardise the safety or security of the personnel and installations.
- Act as a member of the emergency response team if required.
Job Content:
- On the job Training and development for the instrument maintenance team members where required.
- Installation, commissioning, Maintenance, troubleshooting and operational optimisation of static and rotating equipment within the facility and new projects.
- Promotes accurate reporting and feedback, involves and motivates all national and expat personnel on Anomalies, Near misses and Incident reporting.
- Discusses and delivers training objectives with his subordinates, monitors their performances on a regular basis, and provides support to ensure they meet the required standards.
- Ensures optimum use of all available facilities and means to promote and maximise environmental protection, to minimise the consequences linked to any possible incident or accident as per Company guidelines.

- To guarantee high Health, Safety, Security and Environment standard of the personnel according to Company’s procedures and guidelines.
- To ensure and maintain a high-level process safety / integrity.
- To promote a good image of the Company by maintaining high team spirit among site personnel and good relationship with local authorities and communities.
- To delivery efficient, safe and diligent maintenance activities and increased plant availability.
- To ensure that work is managed and coordinated efficiently with the resources available including vendors and specialist suppliers.
- To motivate his colleagues in delivering excellence.
Profile Requirements:
- Ideally Tertiary qualified with at least 20-25 years “hands on” and training experience in the Oil & Gas industry in the area of Maintenance, troubleshooting, operational optimisation of machinery and OTJ training.
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to use, optimise and develop CMMS and electronic integrity management systems.
- Good ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
The role reports to Maintenance Superintendent and is rotational type (4 weeks on 4 weeks off). The role will be Kurdistan site based with initial fixed duration contract of 2 years. Interested candidates kindly apply with a PDF version of the CV.
