HR Specialist Employee Relations

Do you get energy from tricky labor law issues, creating positive union relations and change? Have you also a coaching mindset where you easily motivate others in the right direction? Then you might be the HR Specialist within Employee Relations that we are looking for. If you have a soft spot for work environment and GDPR, you might very well be the one.

DFDS has successfully undergone major changes in recent years and today we have about 900 employees in Sweden, divided between our seven legal entities. However, our journey has just begun, and we want to keep growing and developing to meet both our customers’ needs and to be a great place of work for all our people.

We Move for All To Grow and at DFDS our people mean the world to us. We aim to attract and retain the best talents, provide challenge and opportunity for personal growth and development. By being inclusive and embracing our differences we get the best from everyone and an even greater result. We take great pride in empowering our people to make a real difference. Join our team and be part of our success as one of Northern Europe’s largest shipping and logistics companies. We are now looking for a HR Specialist Employee Relations to our Swedish HR team that will drive the development of employee relations and add labor law and negotiation expertise to our team.

About the role

You will be responsible for and work independently with complex negotiations, both on a daily basis and long-term negotiation strategy. You will coach and challenge managers and colleagues to safeguard a qualitative negotiation and labor law standard. You will also play an important part to uphold and develop our collaboration with the unions. As HR Specialist Employee Relations, you will be responsible for negotiations and employee relations at Gothenburg RoRo terminal, but your skills will also be needed across all our Swedish companies.

Some of your key responsibilities would be:

  • Independently conduct negotiations with all unions and work with long term negotiation development
  • Be responsible for keeping HR and the business updated on necessary CBA development and labor law changes
  • Drive and coordinate organizational changes and redundancy processes from a legal perspective
  • Coach, advice, and challenge business managers when it comes to negotiations, labor law and employee relations
  • Coach colleagues and act as a senior advisor when it comes to labor law, employee relations, negotiation technique and organizational issues
  • Advice on and when needed conduct challenging disciplinary cases
  • Safeguard GDPR compliance and necessary activities from a people perspective
  • When needed, support the HR team in all people management related processes

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is equally oriented towards reaching good results and creating strong professional relationships. You have a strong inner drive and can work independently at the same time as you value the benefits from working together with a team.  You have integrity, analytical skills and a will to continuously improve and develop ways of working. You excel when it comes to labor law and creating mutual trust with managers and unions. To succeed and to enjoy working with us, you need to be a great communicator that loves to make change happen and that remains engaged even in challenging times.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar within HR or labor law
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in qualified HR roles, either as HR Business Partner, HR Manager, Employee Relations specialist, Industrial Relations Manager or similar
  • Extensive knowledge of labor law, redundancy processes, organizational change and work environment
  • Knowledge about and experience working with GDPR compliance
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong experience from union relations, both blue and white collar. Experience working with Transportarbetarförbundet and Hamnarbetarförbundet is an advantage
  • Fluent in Swedish and English
