Working in The Global Environmental Markets team 

The vacancy is in the Global Environmental Markets (GEM) team, which is responsible for sourcing, balancing and selling environmental commodities linked to Statkraft’s own assets as well as the assets of our customers around the globe. The team is located in Amsterdam, London and Beijing. 

Graduate trainee – Trade Support Environmental Markets role is a key entry level role enabling strong candidates to get a foothold in the energy trading environment with focus on environmental products. It will help develop your understanding of the entire deal life cycle from deal inception to delivery. 

Your role will include:

  • Supporting management on different environmental product portfolios (inventory management, delivery planning, position reporting, communicating with traders on portfolio balancing)
  • Managing registration of commercial contracts using the in-house deal management system (deal booking, portfolio reconciliation)
  • Assisting with the logistical settlement of our contracts (transfers of certificates)
  • Working closely with environmental product specialists and support units on daily operational tasks and procedures
  • Support automation efforts of the daily operational tasks and procedures
  • Performing ad-hoc analyses of commercial business cases
  • You will complete two projects with different sub-teams within GEM. The projects will be agreed based on the existing business need and will give you exposure to different traded products (e.g. EUAs, VERs, PPAs).

  

About you: 

  • Results oriented and demonstrably commercial
  • Keen eye for detail whilst also considering the big picture
  • Capable of prioritising tasks and meeting critical deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills and accurate judgement
  • Articulate, good relationship management skills, and resilience
  • Good team player
  • Coding skills a plus (e.g., Python)
  • Fluent in English; strong command of another European language or Chinese is an advantage
  • University degree, preference, although not requirement, in a numerate discipline, e.g., economics, finance, science, engineering or mathematics
