Job Description
The Fleet Maintenance Support Officer is the primary contact for all vessel machinery, maintenance, and spare part information within the AMOS, responsible for ensuring its continuous accuracy and upkeep. This role demands complete management of all technical change requests and projects submitted by vessels and superintendents. This process requires a full assessment and understanding of each request, including thoroughly reviewing documentation, obtaining necessary supplementary data, and developing a clear action plan. Furthermore, the Officer must champion continuous improvement of the AMOS content and associated procedures. All approved updates must be implemented in AMOS strictly following established company procedures to maintain data integrity and support fleet operational readiness.Review and validate the latest drawings, manuals, and reference documents related to the GADR conversion for accuracy and applicability in AMOS updates.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Ticket and Project handling: Serve as the core executor for all assigned Change Request tickets and projects, ensuring compliance to Company policies and procedures, documented, and timely resolution.
- AMOS Master Data Integrity: Accountable for the accuracy, quality, and standardization of all data within the AMOS and supplemented references like Function Template and GMT (Generic Maintenance Template)
- AMOS database building for new vessel: Ensure the successful AMOS database building for new vessels and the standardization and maintenance of key templates, including Function Template and the GMT (Generic Maintenance Template).
- Continuous Improvement: Actively champion and drive continuous improvement of AMOS content and processes.
- Lead & Support: Guide and direct Fleet Maintenance Specialists and provide reliable support to the FMS Manager.
Main Tasks:
- Change Request Management
- Manage all assigned Change Request tickets from start to finish. Prioritize daily workload: Assess tickets daily based on urgency, criticality, and latest updates to inform daily ticket planning.
- Complete assessment of each request or project by defining the scope of work, required actions, and verifying the availability of all relevant documents.
- Develop a detailed action plan with clear task assignments.
- Implement all approved changes in AMOS/PMS in strict compliance with company procedures.
- System Data Integrity & Standardization
- Process and update AMOS master data (Maintenance, Functions, Components, Spares) to ensure continuous accuracy and upkeep.
- Conduct analytical validation of machinery, maintenance and spare part data for its fleet-wide applicability and standardization.
- Lead AMOS database build for new vessels based on final references and company standards.
- Ensure compliance of all AMOS records with the Function Template and the GMT (Generic Maintenance Template).
- Conduct onboard spare part inventory, updating the AMOS accurately.
- Leadership, Training, Improvement
- Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives for AMOS content and maintenance procedures.
- Conduct AMOS training.
- Lead and Support Fleet Maintenance Specialists.
- Assist the FMS Manager with maintenance-related tasks and projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering
- At least 12-15 years of relevant work experience
- At least 3 years as 2nd Engineer onboard vessel
- Proven onboard experience as a Marine Engineer
- Proficiency in AMOS (or equivalent CMMS)
- Strong knowledge of database logic, data migration principles, and ensuring data integrity (e.g. using SQL for querying/validation is a plus)
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, P&IDs, and classification society requirements.
- Experience with spare parts categorization, stocktaking procedures, and linking spares to components in a CMMS.
