Fleet Equipment Controller

The Role… Our Equipment and Asset Management Team based in Immingham are in search of an Equipment Controller to join their team to help them with the essential task of Fleet Management for our growing logistics business. You will need to be proactive and a team player who is confident communicating with a wide range of different internal departments, customers and drivers.

Reporting directly to the Asset Control Manager you will be working as part of a team of 4 to ensure that the fleet and equipment are kept track of, guaranteeing everything is maintained to a satisfactory standard – both legally and operationally. You will be responsible for updating tracking systems with all operational movement data for all DFDS UK and Non-UK locations and making sure that the relevant operations departments are aware of any issues. 

Responsibilities…

  • Check daily on where all the trailer and container fleets are and follow up on static equipment.
  • Organising the MOT/ACEP & Service schedules for the fleet of trailers and containers.
  • Arrange with third party repairers in all countries to book in MOT, service, and repair work on daily basis.
  • Arranging for unscheduled maintenance and breakdown.
  • Approve repairs which have been completed in our fleet management system.
  • Ensure that cost control is adhered to.
  • Arrange and book trailers to ship empty to countries who are requesting extra equipment.
  • Hold weekly/monthly online meetings with internal operations departments.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, operating procedures and standards at all times.
  • Always work with due care and attention and in accordance with current HSE requirements to ensure the personal safety of yourself and others.
  • Ensure strong working relationships are built and maintained with the clients/customers.

You will have strong administrative experience and be confident working with IT and Microsoft Packages. Previous experience in a logistics business would be preferred but not essential. There may also be the need to travel throughout the UK and Abroad, as required.
