FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER - Navigation

 

Our Field Service Engineers are in the first line when it comes to representing Kongsberg to our worldwide customers. To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a Field Service Engineer-Navigation to join our Global Customer Support (GCS) department at Doha, Qatar.

 

At Field Service Navigation we are responsible for our sailing fleet with installed K-Bridge & K-Nav Navigation systems. We have one of the most advanced and sophisticated Navigation systems in the industry and are always pushing for new innovations. We support complete Navigation systems where we also integrate other systems like, DP and Automation in to one full solution for the customer. We have installation on Drilling rigs, Tankers, LNG, Cruises, Mega yachts and much more. You will do service and maintenance on installed systems on sailing ships, as well as offer in-house technical support and remote service to external and internal customers.

 

Our technical solutions have success in the market; the goal is to maintain and strengthen this position in the future, to succeed in this we have established a local office in Qatar to support the existing and, growing LNG fleet with Kongsberg Navigation equipment. To make this a winning team, we are looking for Engineers with the applicable competence that accepts the challenge of extensive service, support, and travel.

 

Key accountabilities

• Installation & commissioning of K-Bridge/K-NAV systems
• Service & maintenance of K-Bridge systems onboard vessels all around the world
• Communicate to support customers by telephone, e-mail, remote connection and face to face
• Engineering and Production of technical documentation
• Software and hardware configuration
• Technical commissioning and installation

 

• Requirements:
• Experience and knowledge of marine equipment and navigation systems or navigational related equipment is preferable
• Experience withing K-Bridge, K-Steering, K-Nav and or related equipment is a benefit.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one or more of the following: Electronics, Cybernetics, telecommunication., Control systems and/or Automation education is an advantage
• Good communication skills in English. Both oral and written
• Must meet the health requirements that apply for offshore work
• Field experience from maritime, shipping and/or offshore oil & gas installations is an advantage
• Highly motivated for worldwide support activities
• GMDSS (GOC) will be an added advantage
