Distribution Centre Manager

DFDS are looking for a Distribution Centre Manager at our Belfast operation. Heading up a diverse Warehouse team in a constantly changing environment, we are seeking someone to lead from the front, someone who is ambitious, driven, and inspiring, to motivate the team in providing the highest service standards possible for our customers.

The Distribution Centre Manager is a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible & accountable for ensuring the efficient management, operation & control of all retail warehouse operations in DFDS Belfast. You will lead the depot management team to achieve customer KPI’s whilst providing a professional, cost-effective & reliable service & acting in accordance with any legislative requirements & company policies. Strong interpersonal & communication skills are vital when managing the warehouse operations & support functions. We require you to be approachable and personable combined with the ability to give clear direction & leadership to the team, managing any performance related matters, whilst always encouraging a culture of high performance.

Managing a 24/7 business, you will take ownership for all Warehouse activity, heading the depot management team to ensure that the relevant departments deliver on productivity & financial performance indicators. Actively seeking to reduce costs, improve efficiency & enhance wellbeing by looking for & recommending any new methods of working. This alongside, participating in senior management, departmental, finance & depot meetings, providing detailed financial analysis of P&Ls across multiple departments. We require you to constantly seek to raise health & safety standards within the operation, ensuring compliance is maintained and areas for continuous improvement established, in conjunction with the HS&E Manager. Ensuring appropriate remedial action is taken to eliminate or reduce any significant risks or hazards identified. Provide support and guidance during investigation of incidents & accidents ensuring they are probed thoroughly, the root cause is established and acted upon to avoid reoccurrence.

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 5 years Warehouse Management experience, ideally gained in a FMCG background, who understands the dynamics of open book and closed book contracts & can clearly operate successfully in this environment. A team player who can build & maintain strong relationships with customers being their main point of contact. A person who can communicate with colleagues & customers at all levels, delivering continuous improvement, keeping all parties informed & in the loop. A leader, confident in developing a team of Shift Managers, who in turn will be highly motivated by encouragement & promote open communication. Having a degree level qualification is within warehousing is desirable.
