Combined position as Research Group Leader in Cancer Systems Biomedicine and Professor II/Associate Professor (20 %)
Offentlig forvaltning
Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is a highly specialized hospital in charge of multiple national functions in addition to extensive regional and local assignments. As Scandinavia’s largest hospital, we carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments each year, and approximately 20% of all assignments are in the field of cancer. OUH is responsible for approximately50 percent of al l medical and healthcare research conducted in Norway and is the dominating institution within cancer research. OUH - Institute for Cancer Research (ous-research.no)
The Institute for Cancer Research (ICR), organized as part of Division for Cancer Medicine, conducts cutting edge cancer research ranging from basic biology to translational and clinical research. It is Norway's leading cancer research institute with a strong international standing. ICR, located close to the new Radium Hospital/Cancer Clinic, has currently 390 employees organized in 25 research groups. Cancer Systems Biomedicine is a prioritized research area within the ICR and at the Department of Tumor Biology (DTB) (see enclosedstrategy) . We are seeking an experienced scientist to lead and further develop a research group (100% Group Leader Position) focusing on cancer systems biomedicine and contribute to developing the computational biology infrastructure. The position is combined with a part-time academic position in computational cancer biology as Professor II/Associate Professor (20% position) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO).
DTB emphasizes basic and translational research in tumor biology and computational science. Our aim is to advance the molecular understanding of cancer, to identify novel intervention strategies and to improve treatment of cancer. We base our research on clinical needs and knowledge gaps, facilitated by multidisciplinary competence and interactions between clinicians in shared positions, biologists, and informaticians. Our research programs encompass cancer genomics, tumor biology, computational biology, and precision oncology, with the goal of translating research findings into clinical practice.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is absolutely crucial to solving the tasks required of us. We therefore want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions and encourage everyone to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.
