About the role:

Create and maintain long-term, trusting relationships with our existing clients. The role is to oversee a portfolio of existing clients, monitor our service delivery, ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and actively seek new opportunities. The emphasis is on relationship management, networking, and building trust within a specialised client base and representing KNC Australia.

The role also includes the responsibility of securing new customers within the region through proactive sales.

Key objectives:

  1. Generate profitable revenue within the guidelines set down by the Line Manager.

  2. Operate as the lead point of contact for technical delivery and commercial matters specific to your clients

  3. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships

  4. Oversee existing clients accounts including strategic planning, forecasting and negotiating contracts to maximize profit

  5. Increase market share for KNC goods and services.

  6. Provide marketing information.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Serve as our lead point of contact for assigned client account management matters including technical service delivery and new business opportunities

  2. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships

  3. Ensure timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to the client’s needs and objectives

  4. Collaborate with our internal Customer Support and Sales teams to identify and grow opportunities

  5. Clearly communicate progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives

  6. Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet sales quotas

  7. Escalate challenging client requests or issues, as needed

  8. Prospect the designated territory for sales opportunities.

  9. Qualify all commercial, political and technical requirements.

  10. Manage our bid/proposal.

  11. Provide annual sales forecast for budgetary purpose

  12. Meet agreed sales income target.

  13. Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximise profits

  14. Prompt submission of Visit Reports.

  15. Any other appropriate tasks required by the Line Manager.

Travel:

Extensive travel will be required within Australia and overseas (e.g. Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Norway), sometimes for prolonged periods. Travel will make up at least 30% of the role, and sometimes more during busy periods.

About you:

Qualification

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance

Experience:

  • Familiarity with the maritime industry is highly desirable (e.g. ex-captain, marine engineer, ex-Navy).

  • Proven experience as an Account Manager, Sales Manager, or in a customer-focused technical/commercial role.

Skills:

  • Strong ability to network, communicate, and represent the company confidently with stakeholders at all levels (including C-level).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills — approachable, sociable, and able to build trust and long-term relationships

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts/projects at once.

Desirable

  • General technical literacy (e.g. IT infrastructure, surveillance, or port systems).

  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g. Remedy) and MS Office (Excel in particular).

  • Knowledge of ITIL practices.

Location: Perth, Western Australia (Hybrid – 3 days per week in Fremantle office, balance WFH)
