Statkraft Chile is working on the development and upcoming construction of three wind farms in Litueche (Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Region), a project called Statkraft Eolico and these three wind farms together will have an installed capacity of more than 100 MW and which it expects to start operations in 2022. It is about wind iniciative called “Cardonal” (30 MW), “Manantiales” (24.15 MW) & “Los Cerrillos” (48.3 MW).

 

Your Role

The professional will be in charge of providing Business Development with preliminary wind and solar resource assessments, wind and solar farm layout designs and energy production estimates. The Wind and Solar Resource Assessment Specialist will contribute to create and assure the best-in-class wind project pipeline for Statkraft Chile.

 

• Manage layout design from early conceptual to final construction-ready stage.
• Elaborate internal full investment-quality energy assessments including detailed loss and uncertainty analyses, long-term correction, and high-resolution wind flow models.
• Manage technical communications with WTG and Solar suppliers to review and align documentation for site suitability, site-specific power curves, and Turbine Supply Agreements.
• Manage met mast and remote sensor siting and installation, including instrumentation selection, for greenfield development or acquired projects.
• Oversee on-site data collection ensuring quality assurance and quality control.
• Support permitting activities associated with turbine locations, including but not limited to sound and shadow flicker impacts.
• Maintain awareness of industry-leading methods, practices and standards (Local and International).
• Perform post-construction assessments to assure methodologies are appropriate and power curve verification.

 

Your Profile

 

• Degree in Engineering, Geophysics (meteorology specialization) or related.
• At least 3y of wind and solar farm analysis and yield assessment experience preferably withing the energy industry.
• Proven knowledge of wind and solar data analysis, design of farm layouts, calculation of uncertainty and losses. Experience in site suitability and wind turbine technology and photovoltaic technology.
• Comprehensive knowledge of meteorological flow, technologies and forecasting.
• Experience with Windsim and WindPro other wind energy, global Mapper or similar GIS Software, Matlab or similar programing software and AutoCad.
• Experience with CFD modeling and mesoscale models.
• Familiarity with meteorological data collection equipment (Lidar/Sodar/Met Mast), including data loggers and instrumentation.
• Ability to communicate technical or meteorological concepts effectively to a broad spectrum of technical and non-technical internal audiences, and to document them in concrete and understandable terms.
• International reporting and communication with the corporate headquarter in Norway will be required, thus the candidate must have a good level of written and spoken English.
• Desire and ability to propose improvements in every project and have a proactive attitude.
