We are seeking a LNG Technical Superintendent responsible for the assigned group of vessels, including budgeting & cost control in Oslo.

Job description

The Technical Superintendent is assigned to a group of vessels and has to ensure, through close cooperation with other members of the fleet management team and onboard management team, that the vessels are operated safely, efficiently, economically and in accordance with Company procedures and instructions.

The successful candidate will have high safety awareness, be technically strong and have relevant background. In addition, possess good people, planning, problem solving and decision making skills as well as focus on continuous improvement.

Höegh LNG and its fleet management subsidiary are centrally located at Skøyen in Oslo.

  • Technical Management of assigned vessels, both LNGCs and FSRUs
  • Prepare vessel operating budgets and control spending
  • Prepare repair and modification specifications and supervise repairs at shipyards worldwide
  • Vessel attendance world-wide
  • Arrange surveys and inspections
  • Monitor and analyse vessel performance
  • Implement best practices and standards
  • Follow up planned maintenance
  • Liaise with the Maritime Personnel Department on matters related to seafarers and build ship management teams
  • Responsible for longer-term improvement projects and technical tasks within the fleet and support business development
  • Participate in and take on key responsibilities in the preoperative phase for new LNGC and FSRU projects

Qualifications

  • Ideally, you will have sailed as a Chief Engineer CoCI onboard tankers. LNG Vessel sailing experience is a strong advantage. Relevant higher university degrees at MSc level (Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering/Offshore Engineering) will be considered
  • At least 3 years shore-based experience having worked as a Technical Superintendent / Vessel Manager for a ship manager or owner. Relevant experience having worked as a Technical Superintendent with LNG vessels is ideal, although our client will also consider LPG experience
  • Familiar with Class systematics and knowledgeable with the regulatory environment concerning gas carriers
  • Experience with dual fuel diesel electric propulsion is preferred
  • Experience with regasification systems is preferred
  • Experience with high voltage systems is preferred
  • Solid computer skills
  • Proficiency in English

In-depth knowledge of the LNGC and FSRU business are not required, however an advantage. For the right candidate, the job description may have flexibility to cater for special experience and competence
