Job Title: Supplier Technical Engineer

Department: P&H

Team: PM & Quality

Location: Kongsberg Maritime Korea Noksan Office

 

Main Work Tasks:

  • Continuous search and investigate sourcing possibilities for Kongsberg Maritime products in Korea by utilizing supply market overview and intelligence
  • Search for capable suppliers to supply materials needed for manufacturing process based on requirements from Kongsberg Maritime sites
  • Carry out supplier assessment and – selection of Korean suppliers on behalf of other Kongsberg Maritime sites or assist Kongsberg Maritime sites in supplier assessment and selection
  • Work with Engineering team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • Responsible for following up the whole manufacturing process, from inquiry, daily following up and technical assistance until the product is ready for delivery according to agreed requirements
  • Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
  • Initiate, driving force and implement improvement projects to make sure continuous improvements of the manufacturing process, competencies and skills at the suppliers to ensure improved quality and reduced cost
  • Ensure the inspection & test reports are recorded and retained as appropriate peroid
  • Assist to apply the FAT plan to the class society, shipyard and ship owner
  • Assist to conduct shop test and internal inspections according to the FAT instructions, technical specifications and worksheet
  • Regular check the update of all class society rules and escalate EtO and Contract managers
  • Support to perform investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action, preventive action and mistake proofing activities for in-house rejects and customer complaints

 

Qualifications:

  • Preferred major in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of Substantial Experience in a similar role, preferably shipbuilding
  • Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001/45001
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques
  • Have good collaboration skills, customer-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Good communication skills in English
  • A driving license and an own car are essential due to suppliers visit
